We all have used the phase "this feels like home". This phase is used often and loosely in everyday conversation, along with the much loved saying "home is where the heart is." In my career I have sold over 1,500 homes and I don't think I have ever paused to really consider what the true meaning of home is.
It is easy to say home is the space we live in. But a home has so much more meaning and it is different perhaps for each of us.
It embodies a magical, intangible feeling of cosines and familiarity that goes far beyond the four walls I think a home is often more of a feeling than an inanimate object. A home reflects who you are. A home becomes your safe haven. A home is perhaps your largest investments (if you own your home). A home is where memories are made.
As you may or may not know my husband and I just finished building our last "forever home". It was designed to gives us hopefully many senior years, with easy maintenance and NO STEPS!
The best way I can describe my new home, is calming! I have lots of windows which allow the sunlight to come inside and for me to see outdoors with full views of Mother Nature. I kept the monochromatic design of using different shades of white, muted grays and touches of tan and greens. I almost feel like I am sitting outside when I am sitting inside. I have created the soul of my home and found it connects to my soul.
The idea of "home" varies across different cultures, home remains a fundamental aspect of the human experience. A physical space where we feel a sense of belonging and security. It is a place where we can express our true selves and create a space that reflects our values and identities.
It doesn't matter if home is your own home, an apartment, a rental home, a mobile home or even a tent..... it is a space where we adorn it with curated memories that evoke the spirit of who we are.
Look around your home and feel the blessing of "home is where the heart is".
