Graduation time is upon us and it is such an exciting time. The graduates have accomplished a huge goal that started at age five when mom and dad walked them into their first classroom. A young hand squeezing tight to mom's hand and just not sure why he or she is being left there. The first part in a life journey of letting go, not only for the parents but for that little five year old.
It is always a thrill to see these young graduates, and how proud they are and of course how proud mom and dad are. They are excited about the road ahead, and so positive about the future they will embrace.
Life lessons are a part of each of our journeys and the desire to share and inspire the young graduate is always desired. As the young graduates are sitting in the folding chairs the day of graduation, you can't help wonder if they know what is front of them. Your own life lessons are tools to share and you hope they will become registered in the graduates mind for a day when they need them.
Here are a few great quotes from some pretty important people "Life lessons for you as you start this next chapter in your life journey."
JImmy Kimmel "When in doubt, order the hamburger."
Colin Powell "It doesn't matter where you start in life but where you finish and, along the way, whether you do something that you love and enjoy doing."
Gloria Steinem "All five or our senses exist only in the present. We can't fully live in the past or the future - or even in Computer Land. Right now, where you are is all there is."
Molly Oliver "Do what is right, even when no one is looking."
Now parents and grandparents will have some of their own wisdom thoughts to share and perhaps writing them down in a simple notebook and gifted to your graduate, will one day be opened the become the roadmap to help them be happy and reach their OWN goals. Letting go is never easy, heck I am still wishing I could guide my grown son and daughter...but letting go is part of the journey.
I congratulate each graduate out there and I also congratulate each mom, dad and grandparent who held a hand and helped that your person believe in themselves and the courage to go after their dreams. Like my husband Jim has always told our three grandsons, "Don't just dream....dream big"!
