When you think about selling your home, you may ask yourself whether you should try to sell your home as a for sale by owner. The motivation for that thought is probably to save on paying as real estate commission, right?

When you are selling your home, the real estate commission can seem like an expense you would be better off avoiding. It is one of the most significant.

the (www.maxrealestateexposure.com) comments that less than 10% of sellers are taking the for sale by owner route. Is it really a good idea for you?

Data shows if you choose not to use the services of a real estate agent, that you are more likely to sell your home for less. Though you will save some money on the real estate commission, the money you will lose from a reduced sales price could bring down what you net. So when asked is it worth paying a commission, the answer was yes. (www.maxrealestateexposure.com)

Don't forget agents have expenses just like every other business. Your real estate agent has costs related to the marketing of the home, administrative costs, etc. Keep in mind a real estate agent doesn't receive any money until your home is sold. If they don't sell the home, they still have all the costs in trying to do so.

Another important thing to remember is an experienced real estate agent will do a competitive market analysis to establish the value in the current market, then have the strategy from their market plan to get your home sold. Your agent will spend time and money to market, show, and negotiate to get you the best offer in the current market.

All of this can be stressful, and a home seller, doesn't need to add additional stress by trying to guess what his home is worth, how to market it and then show it.

I recently had my home for sale. I discovered even thought I was an experienced real estate agent, with all this knowledge....I had no idea how selling my own home can be stressful. It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, especially when prospective buyers would make comments about my home, and pointed out things they didn't like. Even though it was stressful, I learned a valuable lesson on how my own clients (sellers) feel when they are selling their home.

If you are thinking about selling your home, and have additional questions about the real estate commission please contact me. I will be transparent with you and even if you don't list your home with me, I will still suggest...Yes.....pay a commission and use an agent!
