How Do You Really Feel About The Holidays?

It is difficult to see how the holidays can stand alone. It seems when Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are almost rolled into one...I think that is sad. I personally hate walking into Wal-Mart and seeing pumpkins, turkeys and Christmas garland at the same time.

Ok, so let me just focus on the holiday time period with the spotlight more on Christmas. The holiday season is the time of year when we can feel all the human emotions. Joy, love, excitement, anticipation, gratitude, and being blessed can be mixed with sadness, grief, comparison, disappointment, and loneliness, just to name a few.

During the holiday season I have to catch myself when I slip into the negative or feel the troublesome emotions that can be felt. For example I stated this blog with my frustration of the holiday time with all holidays rolled into one. Perhaps that is just the first negative to trigger more. LOL

I grew up poor, no I mean POOR! Yet, my mother was able to make a skinny tree look great with stringed popcorn and those silver icicles. I didn't really question if Santa would come or not...there was always something simple, but wrapped under the tree on Christmas morning. It may be a pair of socks, but it was gift given in love and that love was felt . For that moment being poor wasn't recognized, my mother's love made it slip away.

Ok, so where am I going with this. As the holidays come upon us, I challenge you and myself to fight through the negative and become full of gratitude and yes even joy.

Lets focus on giving more than receiving. There is no better feeling, than giving to another without expecting anything in return. What if this holiday time, we gave more than we receive?

So, final point...our BigIron Realty Holiday Turkey Giveaway is this Friday 11-15-2024 at the BigIron office from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. We will be giving away free turkeys (one per family until they are gone). We will have hot cider and cookies and most importanly we will be here to tell you how much you mean to us. Our community is a blessing we don't ignore. This holiday season, I hope to focus more on giving and counting those blessings, and reflecting on what really is important...like a mother's love.

HOPE TO SEE YOU FRIDAY...HAPPY HOLIDAYS....
